Old Bungalow

I have owned a brick bungalow since 1975, it was built in the 1920's. We have never had any settling problem since we've owned it, but the last couple of years I have noticed that there is a diagonal split in the bricks, and that one of the windows does not close correctly. The only thing that I can think of, that may be causing this is, my neighbors gutter overflows when it rains, and saturates the ground, and there may be some erosion going on. Any suggestions as to what I can do, or what the cause may be. :(

Water would be a good suspect. In my area we have clay soils that expand when wet and cause lots of movement on older homes. Erosion under the footing is possible from your neighbors gutters but I would be looking for any drainage problems and also any underground plumbing leaks. It might be time to call a foundation/soils engineer. HS
