Okay to use flashing under fiberglass/concrete deck coating?
I am going to have a fiberglass/concrete deck coating installed, I am replacing the sheathing on the walls around where this coating will be installed. Can I place aluminum flashing where the sole plate of the wall and plywood floor meet? The flashing would extend under the fiberglass and concrete coating.
I think they are using a material called elasticrete latex.
No, it is that coating that is applied to balcony floors everywhere to keep them waterproof. It is laid over the plywood floor, and then built up a couple of inches up the adjacent walls.
I do remember when they repaired our balconies that there was a great deal of flashing that ran from the walls to underneath the concrete/fiberglass membrane. It looked like it was in good shape. But it was galvanized flashing I believe, not aluminum.
