non-square shed
 

build a non-square shed, to maximize the space, now having a hard time figuring out how to build the roof trusses!! HELP....

What are the dimensions?

No pictures, no drawings, good luck with trying to get any replys that make since.

the front is 6.5 feet wide, the back is only 2.5 feet wide!
the length on the one side is 8 feet, not sure how long the fourth side is.

Would a single slope roof work. A shed roof? Slope rafters from front to back. The front wall has to be higher then the back wall.

I never thought of running it front to back instead of side to side... that might work.

Now that's just funny.
What would make you think it was a good idea to build a shed that shape?
How is that going to maximize space?
Is this a shed you have already built?

OK for a 4/12 slope build the front wall 32" taller than the back wall.
Build the side walls on a slope at the top.

Your in Ottawa? so I am guessing you need permits.

I know it looks funny but my house is build into the side of a rock face, so that angle basically follows the line of the rock..... if I had to make it square it would be super tiny..... and yes I've already have all the walls up and just working on getting the roof on it.... easier said then done.

OK so I understand the front and back walls, front higher and the back wall just leave it at the 8 foot height that I've already got! right?

I'm assuming you mean that that will make the side walls be on a slope like a triangle? yes? so no adjusting of heights etc...

Your walls are already up so you may need to remake them some.

Build the front wall 32" higher then the back wall.
So if your front wall is 8' (96") high your back wall will only be 64" ( I'd go higher on the front so You have at least 6' (72") on the back.
Now you build the side walls, you can do this in place and toe nail, or build it on the floor, Remember because of the angle of the top plate it will be longer then the bottom plate. The front being 8' high and the back being 64" (or whatever measurement you use).

Here is the trick part. Your side walls need to be slighly more at the 64" back edge because they are 3.5" , the thichness of the back wall, short. Imagine the wall carrying through. Or build your front , then the sides, then the back to fit inbetween with it being flush on the back edge. Draw it out on paper and hopefully you will see what I mean.

Please do not listen to that guy. Build the roof front to back. The ridge will be in the center of the structure.Measure from the back wall to front wall and find center. from that center point measure from your side wall to side wall. Cut your ridge to that length. From your cracked out drawing roughly 4 feet. ... Give me exact dimensions and I will tell you what to cut everything... Geez.. Ask first !
