You would be surprised. We have friends that have been married a long time, and are just as loud.

: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

A white noise sound machine gets you some immediate relief. Much easier and cheaper than soundproofing, I had to use one to block out an incessent barking dog next door. The only trouble is that if you get used to sleeping with artificial sound such as a waterfall, rain or sounds of surf, it is then hard to sleep without it.

Did anyone read his last post?

Quote:
We live in a house (not an apartment) in Nebraska, have carpeting and new triple-pane windows, have newly installed landscaping (& can't install a noise-reduction fence or further landscaping in the affected area), and the noise from the neighbors two houses down has included loud car engines and occasional tire screeching at random times throughout the night (even 3-5 a.m.). We have spoken directly with the neighbors, and other neighbors and we have called the police several times. We're being assertive in that way. The engine-revving from a fairly-major street about 1/2-block away also interrupts sleep at times.
Doesn't sound like a vocal wife....sounds like some gear heads with no respect for neighbors.

I would talk to neighbors to see if they are complaining as well...if so, then everyone needs to make sure they all call every time the engines are revved late at night.

Calls to building and safety may also work.

If they are renting the house, find out who the landlord is....talk to them.

On the insulation side....do it anyway for the energy savings....but don't do it just because you have knucklehead neighbors.

A neighbor stops by the blond's house 1 morning & says ' You ought to keep your windows down &shades drawn - all the neighbors heard you having sex yesterday afternoon. '

The blond replies ' Well, the joke's on them. I wasn't even home yesterday afternoon ! '

wait, come to think of it, that may have been williamsville or cheektowaga !
