New windows- possible masonry issue

Drove by a friends place today to see the update of her 1961 whole house remodel. She had some larger windows installed and noticed this today when they were re-installing the bricks. My question is can you install bricks backwards? and how long before they weather and match the rest of the exposed bricks? Should she be concerned?

idk. but i would expect they saved the original bricks they has taken out, and are reusing them. they are darker because they are wet from washing.

What do you mean by installing brick backwards?

Andy.
