A few years ago I installed a new porch on the back of my house using pavers. The porch is about 30' wide and 14' deep, and is laid in the corner of the back of my house and an enclosed porch. I now want to install a roof over the paver porch.
I live in florida and have to be concerned with strong winds from hurricanes, but I do not want to make the roof too heavy.
Any suggestions on the materials I should use for joist's and roofing?

New roof for paver porch
Make sure the roof has good foundations (concrete filled Sonotubes) and proper embedded connectors to hold everything down and avoid uplift and damage to your home. Hurricanes are notorious for creating uplift damage from open sided roof systems and even when there is a garage door or gable end wall failure during a hurricane.
The roof can be light, but it should be held in place.
