I have always used deck screws...but long story short I can get a paslode locally for next to nothing (guy is closing shop and retiring) and thought about ring shank galv. nails for the deck and grab this nail gun to play with, nothing like a new tool to play with!
will 3" poly coated galv. ring shanks hold good enough to not have nail pops down the road?
deck will be mostly covered and sealed regularly.
My vote is for no nails. We don't know where you are located...so there may be other issues like moisture that could be in play. I've just seen too many bad things happen when nailing deck boards. My next wooden deck building will take a serious look at a blind fastening system of some sort.
thanks and exactly what I figured - always what I have done, screws, that is. I am in missouri so humidity is high.
was mainly hoping to get some backup here to justify the purchase!!
