New construction - Insulate Chase ?

I probably know this answer but I will ask it.

I have a chase that I will be installing a direct vent fireplace in.

Should I insulate it ?

Tom

New construction - Insulate Chase ?

Only if it requires insulation for the heating envelope (example: connected to un-insulated exterior walls)

Generally, you can install fire-rated insulation (not standard insulation) in the horizontal area where the insulated rafters (insulated roof-line) meets the chase.
