It doesn't matter if the addition is over a crawl space or a full basement, you still need to tie the addition footing and foundation into the existing structure. That means a physical attachment of some sort.
Who drew up the plans for this? Is this a structure out in the boonies that doesn't need building dept oversight? No building dept would issue a permit for this construction unless your plans conform to the building code.
