I hear ya horsefeathers, bying windows is the pits. Esp when your trying to save money by buying overstock.
I think Atrium went through some reorganization-champion window, and several others are under the same ownership... they could be ok for the southern regions but not up north. I would still recommend other windows above Atrium... I would say they below average window not in the top ten for aluminum clad or vinyl clad windows

Need help with windows

I think I am going to go with Pella. I know there has been some pella hating on this thread but I can't see what is so wrong with them. They seem to be a strong company, the windows look nice and all the numbers are where I want them to be and they have decent warranties.

Need help with windows

I've been doing a ton of research on windows in the SW Ontario regions. Saw Pollards at a friends place who has a custom home and they looked great and they praised their wood windows from 12 yrs ago. Spoke to Pollard and they make 2 types - vinyl or wood, one type of each. Their prices came in the lowest between Vinyl Built, Gentek, Strassburger and All Weather........sounds great, but with further research it appears that most are not happy as after 3-5 yrs the seals all go, warpage occures, cracks and breaks, and they say it's like pulling teeth to get repairs or warranty. Pollard said they sell thousands to builders and seen in the subdivisions. That speaks for itself - EXACTLY, if you want a builders line with no choices on models then they are good deal.

I wanted better quality and with 100+ distributors and Mfg's, Andersen are great if you buy the ones made in Minnisota and distributed here but cost more like Strassburger.

My addition is a 3 car garage w/windows and a bed/bathroom on top so needed lots of custom sizing (8'x7'5) with trapezoids and found All Weather had good options with the glazing options, good reputation and price point was very good - I choose their top line.

If ANYONE has another suggestion, I'd be happy to look - otherwise I'm sold on the All Weather and you should check them out.
