Need help enclosing a deck.

Okay, here goes, i need some ideas. I just bought a house and on the back is a 2 level deck. The entrance to the back of the house is sliding window doors that are on the upper level of the deck. I would really like to enclose the uppder level of the deck. I dont know if i want to make it a window/screen type enclosure, or just screen. My main question is how to deal with the roof. I am really on limited funds and would like to try and build it from scratch, but kits would work as well if the price is right. Any suggestions welcome!!!

Need help enclosing a deck.

The roof is a toughy! The main problem is to tie into your existing roof line or do something more...oh how shall we say..flimsy! You also have the added weight bearing problem on the supports for your deck. The age of the deck is also a concern. Wood decks only have a limited life span. This is something that if you are going to do yourself and want it done right, you might consult some local tallent I.E. friends and family. Something like this is best if seen. Posting some pictures of the situation would help for advise gathering here.

You may be setting yourself up for a lot more work and cost than you expect. Putting a permanent roof up requires a permit and a structure that can support the roof, snow loads etc.

An alternative option for you would be the metal framed gazebo/screen rooms that you can set up and take down as needed. There are lots that have the screen removable should you want that option.
