Need to fix old plaster on brick wall - any hints?
How best to repair 200 year old plaster on brick walls. I am preparing for my next phase of my Library renovation. Demolition is complete!
http://www.diychatroom.com/members/l...-plaster-1.jpg As the pict shows I have bare brick (exterior wall), intact scratch, intact brown, and intact hard coat. In the end, I want a consistent attractive surface. I am willing to take the time to do this right. I have done veneer plaster in other parts of the house and have gained good results! I also have one major, but stable crack that needs repair: http://www.diychatroom.com/members/l...-plaster-2.jpg I would love to hear any ideas, tips, advice, cautionary tales, etc about doing this right. |
Do it the way it was done way back when, with 3 coat system. But you won't be using horsehair in mix as a binder. The brick should be rough enough to hold the 1st coat.
