nails and staples missed studs in garage

Hello all.

I've recently moved into a house rental probably built in the last 10-15 years. The interior of the garage is made up of 16" spaced studs (about 10' high) that were nailed and stapled to sheets of plywood from the outside.

I have mounted a speedbag on one pair of studs and a 70lb heavy punching bag to another pair on the same wall. Hitting either of these bags causes and extraordinary amount of vibration in the plywood which seems to be vibrating against the studs - perhaps because so many nails/staples have missed?

There are many studs along the wall that have a visible space between them and the plywood... and the plywood can even be pushed a little bit further away.

The studs are secure enough to sustain the force of the bags being hit but the vibration is extremely noisy - inside the garage, inside the adjacent rooms within the house and even outside! Anyone have ideas on how I can reduce this vibration and all the noise it makes? Is it normal during construction for builders to miss studs so completely?

Thanks for any help!
Jim

What is the exterior finish material? If it's vinyl siding, it's super easy to unzip, re-nail the plywood on properly. and zip the siding back on.
