Moving wall parallel to joists


Yeah, that does sound like the safest approach. I'm assuming that means that I must remove the 2x6 that is already on that side? No way to attach to it that wouldn't weaken that span, right?

Ugh. I'd hate to have to remove it as I've already installed blocking.

Moving wall parallel to joists


it looks like you spliced both sides, that looks great and will probably hold the joist up...maybe no need to do anything else.

That is great to hear! Especially great to confirm this joist is simply holding up drywall for the ceiling...
