Moving a internal door frame

Recently sound insulated a wall with a wooden frame construction fixed to the ceiling and to the floor boards.

I now needed to move the door frame to make way for the newly insulated wall and i need to move the door frame 4.5". I have now cut into the brick wall on the other side of the door frame to the required distance i needed. i have a wooden lintel above the existing door frame, its not loaded bearing as above is just a loft. Now with the newly cut door frame i have 4" resting on the brick work.

Is this alright as i'm having conflicting advice, my brother told me that four inches was fine and so i have done the work according to my brothers advice but when i told my sisters partner he said that it should be six inches so i am panicking as we have worked really hard to do the work correctly and now i feel scared i might have done it wrong.

I would be grateful for any advice.
