I am wondering about some things involving either the purchase of a new mobile home or a used mobile home.
I have my eyes set on a pacel of land, and me and my guy are thinkng about getting land and putting a moblie home on it. I would like a full basement foundation.
Does anyone know an average cost of a basement foundation?
If we get a used home, does it vary on how much it costs to move it from where it is to our site? I am under the impression most can be moved in one peice, and there would not be a need to disassemble it before having it moved to the land?
What are some of the extra costs and whatnot I might want to look out for?
This at this point is just a dream, so no worries, I'm not jumping into this just yet.
Hi, I am buying a used mobile home. This info pertains to BC area. You need to know if your area requires that it be CSA Approved (mine does). The cost to move it depends on the distance and how easy/hard it is to position it on your land so choose a spot that is easy to get to. You will need to get a permit to move it. I don't know about full basement foundations....but I know it is cheaper to get a slat/concrete strip and gravel foundation than a concrete slab (haven't got any prices yet). Any additions built onto the mobile have to be taken down before moving it. Besides paying for a permit to move it, of course you need to pay for the electrical and water hookups and have a septic system put in. The septic cost are anywhere from $8,000.00 to $20,000 depending on how many bedrooms the mobile has. Hopes this helps!
