mobile home

I am looking at a double wide mobile home to purchase in Florida.
I have been told that the space under this home has standing
water. How big of a problem might this be and what would be the
fix? This home sits directly on ground and does not have sheeting.

Standing water under the house with the heat and high humidity of the summer? I may be wrong, but that seems like a perfect recipe for mold and mildew to develop. Even with vents in the skirting, there could still be a problem if there isn't a breeze to circulate the air underneath.

Before you buy it, get under there with a bright flashlight and take a look around.

It also sounds like a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos and maybe other pests.

I agree with gma2rjc but my other question is why is this sitting directly on the ground with no blocks or anything else under it.That is juat asking for problems especally in a sandy soil area lik Fla.Just wondering how many windows and doors dont work right and I would bet you could put a ball on one side and it would roll to the other

You probably already thought of this, but how well would this home do with hurricane force winds? Is it tied down well enough?

Here's another biggie - Can you find an insurance company to insure this home? If you can find a company, how much will it cost?

I ask that because my friend who lives in Brandenton now pays over $3,000 a year for her home owners insurance . It's not a big expensive house. I think she paid a little over $100,000 for it 6 or 7 years ago.
