metal studs, best screws to use for attaching cabinets?

Hello,

I've never worked w/ metal studs and I need to attach some upper cabinets, as well as secure the lowers. Should I use fine thread screws vs coarse?? Any suggestions??

Thanks!!

best to add blocking and or plywood sheathing first. Do not fasten only to the metal studs since there will not be enough to grip into with the screws.

Thanks guys....

Unfortunately the drywall has been hung. Could I use toggle type bolts that are used for drywall in order to get more grip? I'm thinking I can drill a pilot first, push the toggle through to get more of a solid hold.

Suggestions as blocking isnt an option?

OP.. blocking /plywood are really your best and only options... as advised above:
remove drywall sections where the cabinets will go... no need to repair drywall... mud and tape just to seal wall cavity.

True story >>>> Not good enough for plumbing disater contest...

Townhouse:
HO is out of town for a week, neigbors see water exiting the house under the front door. Upper cabinet had fallen (42" x 48") under secured...
Hits kitchen faucet..breaks single lever handle in the on position & spout is snapped off in the middle creating a jet of water. Water shoots up to the cathedral ceiling with such force it ends up drilling a hole through the drywall ceiling. The water saturates a large section of ceiling causing it to fall voilently on to the glass dinnette table below... etc...etc...

The insurance carrier went after the cabinet installers.
