Metal Shop, ceiling help

Hey guys great site, new poster here. I am looking for a way to completely sheetrock the the ceiling of my shop. I have vaulted trusses that are spaced 8' o.c. I am looking for something that I can attach to the bottom side of the trusses but I am worried about the 8' span. Any ideas?

Ayuh,... Sheetrock ain't gonna span 8',... It'll sag or fall down...

You could batten it to 16" centers...

Personally,...
I'd go with sheet steel siding/ roofing...
Totally fireproof, it'll span the 8', 'n it's much lighter weight overall....

The 1x4 furring strips as suggested are stil spanning 8 feet. No good. Frame between the trusses using 2x4 @ 16" on center or 2x6 @ 24" on center. Start your measurements from the ridge. If possible, snap a chalk line the entire length of the building and use as a guidline when fastening the new "drywall nailers"

Your drywall will run the opposite way of typical. No big deal. Once the new nailers are in, you will have plenty of places to install recessed lighting and batt insulation if desired

BTW. IF choose to use 2x4 or 2x6, 1 1/2" dimension facing down or as the actual side to be used to fasten new drywall
