Question

Masonry Rumford Fireplace Throat

Hi,

I am trying to build my own Rumford fireplace with its curved Throat standard design

Please see attached

Is it a good idea to build the "curved throat" using natural limestone?

What is the typical temperature reading at the throat surface?

Can the limestone withstand repetitive contraction and expansion due to heat?

Regards
