low slung deck details

Hello all,
I am planning a yard-hugging deck, with the main portion just a single step off grade. This would make it in the 6-8 in. height. Materials are concrete piers, PT framing, and some flavor of composite decking (not decided yet).

I suppose there are ventilation issues I need to think about, but I'm not sure how to pull off good vent. being so close to grade. One mfgr. website calls for 2" between bottom of joist and grade.

Are there any other issues I need to take into consideration with this type of install? Or is it not worth the effort? That is, should I just build for ventilation, and live with a second step up from grade?

Thanks for your input!!

Make the grade slope away from the house and put down a durable 10 mil vapor barrier you can walk on and work over. You certainly do not want to try to put it down after the beams and joists.
