I was gonna go buy one of the cables that you can adjust at home depot, But know you pics have me wondering about the right way to install it?
I was thinking from the hinge side high & then down low on the latch side but your diagram show the reverse?
The cables work the opposite way as wood braces do. The wood brace has the forces pushing on it away to the post. The cable will be pulling the forces from the bottom of the gate to the top of the post. If that makes sense.

I would imagine that the wood brace would me more sturdy but I don't have experience with the cable method.

The diagonal brace, anchored in the corner, pushes the top of the gate up. Whereas the cable pulls the bottom up. Be sure to oil the turnbuckle as the cable will stretch over time and you will peridocially need to tighten it.

Ok so now I have the Anti-Sag cable in place & it works great & as I add more weight to it I can keep adjusting. :D

I wanted something that would be hard to tag on by the high school kids & didn't want the same standard gate you see house after house as you drive down the street.

I'll trim a few more branches off my trees to complete the gate.

Ingenuity

That's taking advantage of the supplies and tools you have at hand!

You really should run a cable from the top of the post to the bottom of the latches corner of the door to prevent sag. Ask me how I know

Rebuilding gates isn't fun.

Look closer at the picture with the braches on it.
