Looking for simple Gate ideas

I've done my front yard with a simple hedge & now want to add a basic gate to the walk way.

Even with my hedges & a wire fencing hiding behind it the local dogs still find the walk way & come in to leave a gift for me!

& next week we are bringing home a new puppy & I want to inclose the yard to allow or dog full range of our property.

at this point I have cemented in these 2 post.


& while looking around my local home depot I found these.


But they are much too short, I want them about 6' tall & so now I'm on a search to find these or maybe some other cool looking ideas..

My plan is for a 6 foot tall gate surrounded by the hedges & maybe one day have the hedges grow over the gate?

Anyways my local home depot could not special order me taller ones of this, so now I'm on the hunt for some thing similar ( Maybe ) to build my gate & am looking for pics of ideas?

I'm also thinking about maybe adding a a door knob to the front gate that needs a key & including a wireless remote buzzer for when guest drop by?

I'm not trying to build a fortress but rather a barrier to keep dogs out from my yard & keeping our dog in our yard..

That crossed my mind, but dont have the tools or skills.

A set up like that would be well over $1000.00 with a remote lock.
Google "Steel security gate" for some ideas on what can be done.
Also Google pool gates.
There going to be self closing, and some have locks.

A cheap jig saw is all you need for tools--along with a circular saw and a screw driver---

I like those cedar pickets. That gate looks to be pretty wide. You may need the light weight to keep out sagging.

stop at your local HD store and pick up a gate kit. It prevents (or at least helps to prevent) a sagging gate. I would then use those pickets and make them 4 ft tall. On the bottom 2 ft of your gate put heavy screening on it. Your new dog will love you as he will be able to see when you are coming home. BTW the gate kit has instructions on how to assemble the gate using simple 2x4.

I decided today on a more original idea, the basic gate is mounted now & tomorrow I'll start on finishing it.

You need a diagonal support in the gate.

The forces will go directly down. If you put a diagonal support in, it will transfer back to the post.

Wife went out this morning & said it is sagging she has to lift it to open it.
I was gonna go buy one of the cables that you can adjust at home depot, But know you pics have me wondering about the right way to install it?
I was thinking from the hinge side high & then down low on the latch side but your diagram show the reverse?
