I am going to use composite deck boards for treads on a long set of outdoor stairs. There will be about 12 sets of steps, about 35" width on a set of three (treated) stringers.
The steps will not get much sun and within 30 feet of a large creek, will be damp a lot. (mostly from dew)
Having read the threads about Trex, I looked at composites at Lowes. Their brand has a lifetime warranty but it has grooves on the bottom. Does anyone have experience with the Lowes composites or do you recommend another brand for this application?
The only thing I can offer is from experience at a friends house...the steps were probably 36" wide with three stringers. When you walk up the steps, you can feel each tread give under your weight, and I'm not that big of a guy. It may be over kill, but I would consider adding an additional stringer.
