I have to ask, but what are you contemplating doing? Not trying to be negative, but if you are asking questions of this nature, it is a really good idea to seek professional advice from a contractor, even if you choose to take on the project yourself.
I totally agree that this is contractor territory.
I'm asking for my own edification since I've seen a number of posts regarding load-bearing walls. So I was wondering if you can tell from looking at the wall. It is an interior wall. :yes:
Its not always as simple as seeing which way the ceiling/floor joists run in comparing with the wall. I thought it was, and come to find out because of spans and such it was not. Get someone who knows to come in and assess. If you go with a contractor or someone like that they should be able to tell you at no cost.
A lot of people bet on the 5% chance if it is a money game. I think a house remodeling is a money game also.
