Leveling a VERY uneven basement floor
My basement floor is very uneven -- the centre is as much as 6" higher than the outside. It was recommended that I use concrete poured in on top of the existing (cracked) slab. Is this the best bet? Will I have to do more than one pour? Would sleepers be an option? (With sleepers I could insulate under the subfloor, which is desirable as I'm in a cold region of Canada.) Thoughts? Thanks so much!

Six inches is a very big descrepancy for a floor. Depending on the shape of this mound, I would probably jack hammer the middle, out towards the edge so it was more or less level. Then pour the middle and float it level to the floor that was left. The remaining height difference could then be addressed with a leveling product.
