Question

leveling concrete around a bathroom floor drain

does concrete surface around a floor drain (unusual for residential applications, at least as far as i have seen, but sure as hell makes mopping easier) in a basement bathroom need to be mildly sloped towards the drain WHEN FINISHING THE CONCRETE or can this be done when setting tiles somehow ? or does it need to be done at all as water will somehow flow towards it without gravity (yeah right) ?

i think that the adverse effect of the mistake will not be so drastic as it will be used just for draining mop water (and not e.g. showering). the excess can be always manually directed towards the hole.

some bathroom don't even have a drain hole.... so I think your levelling floor is ok and not to worry.... levelling floor infact is a good thing for tiling later on in your project.... don't "dislevel" it now....

a drain hole only requires for code I believe to avoid flooding in basement... but generally not being used otherwise....
