As mentioned, you want to use either: COPPER or Heavily galvanized Steel sheets for flashing.

I recommend using copper DECK flashing (not to be confused with heavier gauge - expensive - rolls of copper
roof flashing)

You don't need a brake to bend this type of flashing, as it is very pliable. It also has a soft polypropylene backing.
In this article, instead of using roofing felt as described, I suggest using a moisture membrane (like Grace Ice & Water shield):
