Lean-to roof

How far can you span a 2x6 for a metal roof for a carport. One side will be attached to an existing garage wall and the other will be setting on double 2x6's on top of 4x4 posts?

It depends on how far apart you fix the 2x6s. Obviously if they are miles apart, each will be carrying a heavy load and will not be capable of spanning far. If they are close together, they will each carry a lighter load and so could span further.
