laid up stone


I have laid up stone for a small structure which I want to install a door. The stone is irregular around the opening of the proposed door. How do I construct a frame which will be air tight against the stone surface?

As a rule, at the edges you lay the stone to be plumb and flush. If it is already laid, then you can only build it up with mortar to provide a plumb and square corner. You can also edge doors, corners and windows with brick, something like this:
