Kitchen upper cabinet height requirement...

Is there really a kitchen upper cabinet height requirement? I have set mine, the crown is all in... I am about to do the backsplah and a friend just told me that there is a requirement of 18". I just measured mine and they are about 17".

17" above counter is OK, I've done lots of them that way.try not to go any lower.

Like Bob said, it's okay.

There are guidelines established such as by organizations like the NKBA but there are not "requirements" which I think by requirements you mean codes.

Nice... that is a huge relief. I thought for the past couple days I might be removing my last couple weekends of work.

Thank you both very much for your response!!!
