Kitchen countertop Prices??

I'm looking into upgrading to a granite or slate counterop. What kind of prices can I expect to pay?

Is it by the slab, or per ft2, or yard2?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get granite material fabrication and installation for 45-60 dollars per square foot. To get a SAFE square foot measurement, measure the linear footage of your counter and multiply by 2.75 to get your square footage. This will allow for a 6" backsplash and the build up at the front edge. Then multiply that by your sq. ft. price. For instance, if you have 17 linear feet of counter....that's 46.75 sq. ft. then multiply that times $50 per square foot...= $2337.50. This won't include demolition and disposal of your existing top, nor will it include a polished cut-out if you want to use an undermount sink. My granite guy charges me $150 for the cut-out. Remember that if you have an island with a bar-top overhang, that you will need to use a different multiplier than 2.75....hope this helps
