king stud, jack stud holes ..
Hello and thanks,

I am guessing I know the answer to this question but wanted to throw it out here for confirmation.

We are turning a window into french doors.

Engineer has asked for a 4x10 header which we have installed.

We now have to reroute some electrical and here is my question.

We have to run the existing romex up and over the door to continue the path from the existing outlets to each another..

This would involve a small 1/2 inch hole drilled through the studs in the sapce above the new 4x10 header ..

Is there a problem with doing this at all? Or better yet, is there a distance I would need to be from the end of each stud where the hole would go?

Thanks for any info

all holes are to be drilled in the center width of stud and maybe 4 or 5 inches up from the top of the header

Added Picture .. The red line is the new path the romex would take to connect outlets ... the old path ran straight across below the window...

You can see there are som new studs that would need a hole drilled for the romex .. albeit small

Not going to be an issue.

I assumed that was the answer but this will get inspected and wanted to confirm it.

^ yep,for hole placement just split the distance between underside of top plate and top of header and stay in the center most portion of the stud, it will be fine :)
