just curious... what DIY would you NEVER attempt

I no longer do my own colonoscopy. The warning on the fiberoptic scope directions should be taken to heart.
I'm not kidding!

I dont know AC, the mud falls off my blocks, i hate finishing sheetrock, have trouble finnishing concrete.
Plumbing is easy, been playing with electricity since I was 10. I can build anything. Dont like using a shovel unless my 4x4 is stuck.
Bottom line I hate to pay someone to do something I can do. And I'll be damed if Im going to pay them more than I make. But I have.

It seems that you did a fine job of this! You rank right up there, with our local politicians!

Other things where DIY should never apply...

He did it wrong though. Suppose to use 000 gauge wire strippers for that.

What rules do you have for yourself? Things you won't touch and why?

Here's our list of never do's:
1) any large project (redo entire kitchen, patio, lay hardwood flooring throughout house) we simply don't have the time!
2) electrical and plumbing (too risky! What if we make a mistake At best, we'll put-up a new celining light.)
3) things that require scaffolding (I know one of us will fall!)
4) repair pool or complicated equipment (CAC, water heater)... anything we know nothing about... then again, most equipment repairs also violate rule #2!

Things we do or would consider as a DIY:
painting, replace interior doors, flooring (one room), insullation, small masonry projects, virtually all landscaping (outside of major hardscape projects like patios/retaining walls). Landscaping and painting are the areas we have the most experience...

I would also love to hear what some pro's wouldn't do (outside their sphere of expertise....)
I'll respectfully disagree with you. The whole Reason for existence of the DIY site is for ANYONE who knows from which end to pick up a screwdriver to tackle (almost) any subject. (Except for Medicine and Law) With the educated help and willingness of so many experts in all the relevant fields, they guide the beginning DIY'er through all the rough spots of any project. Then you have the Professional DIY'ers, who can relate their experinces in multiple fields!
One interesting (and pretty scary) experience that I related on this forum was, when I was part of a maintenance crew in an HRF (Health Relalted Facility. That's a nice way of saying "Nursing Home"). There was a clogged sewer line that ran above the Dining room. For a moment I thought of opening the Cleanout Plug on that line. I still get the chills (35 years later) when I think of the disaster that would have happened had I opened tha plug! (No matter what) Don't Drink and Drive!!!

On the house or car I'll try anything if I have the time (to study how to do it right as well as to do it)and can get the tools and supplies for less than it cost to hire out.

I won't sew my own parachutes or perform any medical procedure requiring stitches or scopes but I'm pretty good at getting wood slivers out.

I do most anything.

I have poured concrete (wont do large projects alone - like 35 yard pours)
I have framed, gutted and remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.
I have shingled many roofs, built two pole barns, built decks.
Installed garage doors, windows, electrical upgrades, plumping (supply and drain), multiple HVAC installs including ducts and the list could go one.

I dislike taping drywall, but have yet to hire it out due to the costs.

I won't do brick work or gas lines in a structure.

There isn't much I haven't or wont do as a DIY.
