Ok, I am building a raised floor above the garage floor to extend our existing mudroom into the garage. I need to have this new floor height 21 inches(3 steps) off the floor.
How would you attach the floor joists to this wall(See picture)?
Can I attach a 2x8 ledger just above the sill which will be flush with the sill since the 2x8 should be 1.5" thick. Then install the joist hangers onto the ledger and the edge of the sill? Joists will be 2x8 spanning 9 feet, 12" on center.
Height:
12" (Cinder Block)
1.5" (Sill)
6.5" (2x8" ledger, but use the sill for the joists)
.5" subfloor
.25" underlayment
.1" linoleum.
Total: 20.6"
