Im doing a very different style small vinyl job (not on side of home)and will be attatching j channel back to back on studs. Is there a technique or cut to make on both to get the backs to notch together(will be nailed in to stud through the slots ).Like maybe a open grove cut in inside edges on both.
Need a bit more hold than just regular nailing in groves as when usually hung.
Have you ever installed J over the top of a window? If so then you know how to make one piece with a tab and the other one will have a slot, but the faces will look the same length.
I wont be working with ends at all with this part of it ,just the 2 long outsides.Maybe some kind of notching would work to hold the backs of the 2 long outer edges together ..
What is it your really trying to do? Why not just use H molding instead of two differant pieces.
Your missing my point, if you knew how to trim out a winodw with J molding you would know what I was talking about when making a tab.
On each end one piece will be cut at the inside corners at a slight angle to form a tab. The other piece gets the same cut but the whole piece gets remove. Put the two together and just bend over the tab to hold the two together. http://www.arcat.com/details/view_detail.htm?co=alsides&detail=07460030&coid=30321
For what I am doing that won't work..its nothing like a window trim project . Not an outside house project either.
Again its not something that H will work for.
I will try the v grove method for it..along the inside every 16 inches..
Just wanted best cut method for inside attachment(not a typical project)
If your not willing to tell us what it is your trying to really do then your on your own.
