Ipe deck boards on concrete pads
My sister and brother-in law want me to put Ipe decking boards 3/4" thick on concrete pads with decrotive pebbels in them. Ive heard about using preassure treated sleepers on the pads then putting the deck boards on top of the sleepers any ideas about this would be really helpful thanks.

What is this going to be used for, Walk way? Patio?. what is with the block with the deco stones in them. is this something that they want to see when the decking is installed. treated lumber is the way to go. Unless your making some sort of duck walk. then you could use the decking material its self.(if its going to be removable ). Bob

You should call the guys at, they are very knowledgable about Ipe. You need to be careful befor putting Ipe to close to concrete becuase of the moisture content in concrete.

This was done by a contractor at Union Station in Kansas City. They used treated sleepers, and were careful to space the deck boards a little more than usual to promote air flow under the floor.

My biggest concern would be lack of airflow and whether or not the concrete is pitched enough to shed water.
