As shown in the attached photo, I have a completely interior window opening in the wall between my master bedroom and a three story atrium in the center of my town house. The opening is both a blessing and a curse. It lets in a nice amount of light from a skylight installed at the roof of the atrium, but there is no privacy in the master bedroom.
The opening is approximately 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 feet (it's not perfectly square).
We've got curtains up to provide some visual privacy but I'd like some kind of sound barrier as well. An ideal solution would continue to let in the light, which I guess means some kind of window pane. Plexiglass perhaps??
I'm looking for some creative solutions here, with specifics on what materials you'd need and how you'd construct it. Thanks!
Shoot a stop molding into the outer frame for the plexiglass to rest on. Install the plexiglass against that stop molding and then apply a stop molding on the bedroom side.
Paint the stop moldings before you put the plexiglass in.
