Insulation question

This might be a stupid question, but oh well...

My unheated 2 car garage is below my kitchen and dining room. There is faced insulation up between the joists between the garage and these rooms.

The faced side of the insulation is facing the garage. Does this make a difference on how the insulation works? Should the faced side of the insulation be towards the room that is being insulated, or is this no big deal?

Insulation question

The facing is acting as a vapor barrier, and yes it does matter which way it faces.

Look up Building Science and read up on their site how insulation works, in case you had any plans in the works.
