insulation caps for recessed lights?

I want to install 3" recessed lights in a certain area of the house but the ceiling is above is insulated. I have not been able to find much in the way of IC rated 3" fixtures and I don't want to use anything larger. I have some non-IC rated 3" fixtures which I would love to use and I've recently found some covers that you can put over non-IC rated fixtures:

Has anybody used these before? Does there need to be more airflow around the non-IC fixtures in order to cool them down? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!
Andrew
