Insulating a basement for noise.

I am using some R13 to insulate my joists in my basement ceiling for noise. Was wondering about the soffit..... how thats done?

Non need to insulate there cuz it has a void already? Or do you just lie the insulation on top the soffit firring strips?

How do the Pros do this?

thanks for your help

Insulating a basement for noise.

Sound insulation is an expensive and complicated process. Basic insulation will not do a lot. Do a search for accoustic insulation and you will see what I mean.
