My parents have an old (no-longer-used) attic fan. The fan is in the ceiling of the second floor, and blows upwards into the attic to exhaust the heat. They now have air conditioning and don't use it anymore.
I am trying to construct some sort of insulation tent over the fan, in the attic. My plan was to use 2" thick rigid foam insulation to build a sort of "upside-down box" to put over the fan, and maybe line the inside of the box with R-13 fiberglass batts.
Does this sound like a feasible idea?
Can I just use caulk to "glue" the pieces of rigid foam together, or should I use some other sort of adhesive?
How do I adhere the batts to the inside of the foam "box"?
