insulated walls for outside hot tub?

hi all,

I am trying to install a hot tub outside on the deck; the deck is on-the-ground with pilings and correct framing to hold the load. The deck is structurally sound and was built to hold a hot tub.

My issue is insulating the short 2 foot walls that hold the tub, as well as possibly underneath the tub but on top of the deck, like a platform.

Exactly, how to insulate the tub with what materials/methods etc... What size of walls, if any, to build all on top of the existing un-insulated deck

Does anyone have any input on this topic?

thanks

I would not try to insulate the deck or tub surround walls at all. This is just creating a moisture trap that will lead to mold and eventually rot the wood. The outside of the tub should be sprayed with urethane insulation from the manufacturer, and as long as the tub is kept covered when not in use, it will maintain it's temperature with minimal energy usage.
