Insulated vinyl siding and thick J-channel

Hello,

I'm in the process of replacing windows and siding on my house, and I'm looking for suggestions on how to make the window casing look good with a thick J-channel.

The windows were replaced with Andersen 400's, which have frames that extend about 1.25" out from the flange. I am going to have insulated siding installed (CertainTeed Cedarboard or Alside Prodigy), and with the integrated insulation these typically need a thick J-channel (I believe 1.25"). I want want to install traditional casings around the windows made with 1 x 4" Azek (or possible 5/4 x 4"), but I'm concerned about the depth profile. Regardless of which trim board thickness I use, the J-channel will be proud of the casing and I'm afraid it will look bad.

Has anyone installed one of these insulated siding products and dealt with this?

Also, if I wanted to build up the casings a bit, can I cut 3.5" strips of 3/8" or 1/2" rigid foam board and sandwich these under the Azek? You wouldn't see it, since the J-channel would butt up against the outer edge of the Azek/foab board.

Thank you.

Thanks. And, any thoughts on how to handle the thickness of the J-channel? Should I just build out the casing so that it is about flush?
