insulate ducts, freezing basement

Hi,
My basement is unfinished and is much colder than the upstairs, so I am wasting some energy thru the ductwork itself.
The 2-3 vents are closed, but do people insulated the ducts usually intheir basements?

If so....what is the most cost effective way? Fiberglass doesnt sound good..fibers above our heads, possible cindesing and moisture.

XPS cut and boxed around it?

Thanks!
