Installing Flue Liner thru Damper
I'm thinking about installing either a gas insert or a wood burning stove in an existing fireplace, but I'm unsure about how to install a new flue liner through the existing damper. The damper is wide, but not very deep - probably 4-5 inches deep by about 20" wide. The opening for the damper is probably slight less than this.
I belive the liner I would need for a wood burning stove would be about 6" and will not fit through the damper.
How much trouble is it to remove an entire damper and plate so a 6 or 7 inch flue liner can be fitted? I can't be the only one with this problem.
