Installing a bigger window. Creating new rough opening

I am currently trying to decide what to do and how to go about creating my new rough opening to put in a larger window. The house is old (1945) and has wood chip insulation and tongue and groove boards on the interior... it was a big deal pealing off the layers to finally get to the studs. I haven't actually cut the opening yet. Just wondering if I should re insulate and put new vapor barrier on the whole wall.

Any suggestions?

If you are going to open the wall up for a bigger header I would definitely upgrade the insulation
And the electric if needed

Hi! Looks like you will spend more time cleaning up sawdust ,than framing.

Yes,you should strip the old 1x4 sheeting,loose the sawdust and properly insulate.

Reframing the opening should be a fairly strait forward matter.The gable end wall is not supporting the roof so no temporary bracing will be required.
