I am re-doing the baseboards and trim in a spare room. The window sil is
slightly damaged from condensation dripping down over the years("A"). The caulking along the bottom has areas where it appears to have worn away(or was installed poorly) and the wood has very minor damage ("B").
These sills have been stained in the past, I have read that using an oil based primer is required, is this true?
I was planning on sanding the wood(you see ive started), painting(white) and putting some new caulking in along the bottom where the old caulking is worn. Am I on the right track here? Should I dig out all the old calking first?
Also, what is the best kind of caulking or silicone etc, to use for this project?
Any tips on the best type paint/primer to use for the sil, gloss latex or oil based perhaps?
The windows are dual pane and say "IGMAC PPG TWINDOW CALGARY 1988".
I plan on taking care of the outside of the windows in the summer...
