icciles comong out of soffit vents

I had a small addition put on the back of the house with 2 velux skylights (CS 6000 ?) installed on each side. Was out pulling some snow off the roof and noticed icicles hanging from the soffit vents in the area directly below the skylight (approx. 3' ) from soffit vent. Any thoughts why this might be happening?

Heat getting into that rafter bay is probably the easiest answer.

10" of fiberglass insulation, 1/2 rigid, 1/2 pine ceiling, Think heat is getting in through side walls of skylight? both side identical, problem the same on both sides, soffit extends out from house 18"

Had a new addition put on with new skylights installed on each side ( velux cs6000). ceiling is insulated with ridge vent, 10" fiberglass, 1/2" rigid board and covered with 1/2 t&g pine. I have icicles hanging from the soffit vents in the area directly below the skylights (approx. 3" from skylight) soffits are approx. 18" wide ,why is this happening?
thanks

Kidding aside.......... and if I understand your question...........
probably the same answer you came up with....
Condensation

Warm air in the skylight area, meeting the external air.....
may be some moister building up in your new roof soffit area too....

maybe not

My guess is that the joist bays under the skylights aren't vented so heat/moisture is building up.

skylight fills full space between roof rafters. I suppose it also stops circulation from soffit to ridge vent. I'm afraid condensation is going to start running in walls. problem solver?

Where's the contractor or designer ???

what to do know? Today ?
Sorry..... no suggestions...

Try not to loose sleep over it........ sounds like the moister is working it's way outside (the icicles) not inside....
and if it does... (which it won't ) nothing you could do right now anyway....

cleansing breaths.in through the nose out through the mouth..

In my opinion Skylights and Can Lights rate well up in the top numbers for being the worst inventions for residential buildings ever. I solved my problem after 20 years of the aggravation. I just don't have the Cans taken care at the moment.

What your solution was kinda crossed my mind but didn't want to say anything..........................

Was also thinking yesterday as I was removing a ton of snow...........
why would anyone get a sun roof or moon roof for a vehicle....??

anyway...
