i freakin hate vinyl siding !

wood siding will be permanent. what kind of nailing surface should i have and how should i attach it to cement walls ?

i freakin hate vinyl siding !


I'd use 2x4's, laid flat on the concrete. Attached with tapcon screws and construction adhesive. I would build a perimiter frame and install the flat 2x4's 16 " on center in the middle.

i have done something quite similar in the recent past with 3/8 x 6 bolts going in pre-drilled holes in concrete/brick through pre-drilled holes in PT 2x4s. filled holes in the wall with 2-part anchoring epoxy and then set bolts in. ROCK SOLID !! that anchoring epoxy is some crazy stuff !

Ron6519 - do you think it will be OK to nail the 1x8 planks to vertical 2x4s using a regular trim nailer (1.5 in, i believe) ? also, do you think the 2x4 should be PT ?
